Job Description:
Glacial Lakes Energy (GLE), a corn ethanol industry leader, is seeking a Grain Manager in Watertown, SD.

This is an excellent opportunity for either an established Grain Manager or a Supervisor who is interested in the next step in their career.  If you have 1-3 years’ experience leading a team in grain handling operations, this could be the position for you.

The successful applicant will be self-motivated, hardworking, customer and employee focused, have good time management & organizational skills, and have strong communication skills. 

The Grain Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the grain handling area including DDGS storage, loading/unloading, inventory control measures, safety compliance and sanitation. The Grain Manager is also responsible for meeting and maintaining all regulatory requirements, plant policies and procedures pertaining to the commodities department. Employment for this position is conditioned upon successfully passing certain pre-employment requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Some college preferred
One (1) to three (3) years supervisory experience in grain handling operations or related field is required 
Knowledge of rail car loading, truck unloading/loading, grading grain to USDA specifications, weighing, inventory management, and safe grain handling
Able to operate heavy equipment such as skid loader, pay-loader, forklift, and track mobile
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the competencies required to perform the essential functions of this position along with effective oral and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills Supervise shipping and receiving activities including ethanol transfers to storage tanks, rail car loading, truck loading/unloading, grading grain to USDA specifications, weighing, inventory management, and safe grain handling
Communicate commodity operations status to the Plant Manager
Ensure all plant policies pertaining to the commodities area are met and remain in compliance
Help maintain inventory and quality control tracking systems that are acceptable to management and regulatory agencies
Ensure all housekeeping regulatory requirements are met and remain in compliance
Manage the grain inventory necessary for production
Effectively communicate with management team and other departments to keep them informed and resolve issues
Ensure all daily documentation and accountability of required process information is completed in a timely and accurate manner
Ability to manage others including the responsibility of performance management for all reporting employee. This may include: hiring, performance reviews, goal-setting, disciplinary action, and career development.
