Process Operator Reports To: Operations Manager FLSA Status: Non- Exempt Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for an area of plant operations and ensuring maximum quality production while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of CIE. Learn/work effectively with the plant’s Distributed Control System. Diagnose/troubleshoot plant or equipment issues before/after they occur to prevent process upsets. Assist maintenance as needed to help with repairs. Perform samples and testing of the process as required by the QA program and QA process. Respond to collected data as required by plant SOP’s and QA programs. Complete shift turnover communication daily for the designated area of the plant. Keep timely and accurate process logs as required by the QA and environmental programs. Responsible for notifying Shift Lead of any equipment problems. Complete tasks that are assigned by the supervisor. Learn all procedures for the physical plant and utility systems. Monitor Fermentation data for consistency and report any variations to Plant Manager and/or Lab Manager to prevent process upsets. Must be able to manage/perform LO/TO, Hot Work, and confined space entry as needed. Must be able to work a 12-hour rotating shift. Be able to meet call-in requirements as needed. Participate in programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness. Maintain and enforce all safety/environmental policies and procedures. Maintain a TEAM environment with all plant employees. Ability to problem solve and have attention to detail. Demonstrated self-starter and high initiative. Maintain a good attendance record and work ethic. JOB SUMMARY The Boiler Technician B is responsible for the operation of all plant processing equipment and performing routine maintenance in a highly automated chemical facility. In the area of maintenance, the Boiler Technician B is responsible for the safe and efficient repair, maintenance and cleaning of all equipment associated with bioprocessing processes. Team members in this position are required to maintain knowledge of the process flow, computerized equipment and be aware of hazards associated with the process as well as understand and execute standard operating procedures. Continuous plant operation requires 12-hour shift work. Team member must be able to adapt to 12-hour workdays and be able to meet call-in requirements as needed. Schedule: Days 7:00 am-7:00 pm & Nights 7:00 pm-7:00 am (Rotation every 6 weeks) DURING A TYPICAL DAY (IF THERE IS ONE)… Learn, maintain and operate all processes associated with the plant where required. Responsible for performing repairs and maintenance of plant equipment and documentation of activities. Learn and operate DCS (Distributed Control System) for the plant. Learn and perform basic electrical troubleshooting. Follow procedures for plant start-up, shut-down, cleaning and batching. Maintain accurate and timely logs. Respond to collected data and make adjustments to optimize plant operation. Do quality control tests on product streams and make necessary adjustments. Remove, install, rebuild, lubricate and clean all equipment associated with plant processes. Perform preventative maintenance tasks as directed. Train new Plant Technicians in operation and maintenance of plant equipment. Maintain a clean facility and follow the sanitation schedule completing all tasks as assigned. Responsible for notifying management team of safety, environmental, quality and production concerns, problems and opportunities. Working at extreme heights (approximately 150 ft), in confined spaces, and in extreme temperatures from -20 to +100 degrees Fahrenheit, both indoors and outdoors. Must be able to use the following equipment/tools, with training provided (not all encompassing): ladders, welding equipment, press, power washers, various hand tools, shovels, forklift, dollies, pulley hoist, overhead hoist, and bandsaw. Drive, participate, and evolve development of long-term strategies to generate supply chain success while supporting and influencing internal stakeholders. Support key category initiatives by providing direction in supplier evaluation, selection & management, commercial agreements negotiation, data analytics, and pricing reviews. Support processes to ensure best in class service from POET vendors for internal customers. Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and to determine need for changes. Develop and drive risk management strategies. Keep informed of new developments, methods, and techniques in the profession and supplier industry. Initiate and lead improvement projects to current processes and policies. Collaborate with bioprocessing and EPC technical staff to ensure specifications and quality expectations continue to be met. Partner with other procurement staff to ensure accurate and timely delivery with excellent customer service to our bioprocessing facilities and construction projects.
