ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  1. Implement facility’s Emergency Action Plan (EAP), Integrated Contingency Plan (ICP), Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures (SPCC), Risk Management Plan (RMP), and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).
  2. Assist the facility’s commitments under the sites Air, Appropriations, NPDES, and Waste permits. Complete multi-media responsibility for task driven commitments.
  3. Establish and maintain relationship with Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) and response organizations to facilitate their participation with facilities response planning.
  4. Responsible for building and ensuring implementation of a strong ProcessSafety Management (PSM) program. Support compliance with Risk Management Planning (RPM) and reporting to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
  5. Provide comprehensive and effective EHS training. Design and implement new training programs to address gaps. Ensure implementation of Safe Work Practices (SWP) and create written health and safety procedures and programs to meet OSHA, PSM, FRA, and other applicable regulatory standards.
  6. Investigate incidents for facility using investigative methodologies, and drive preventive action items to completion using tracking methods.
  7. Implement tasks defined on Environmental Health and Safety routine duties calendar, ensuring 100% compliance, including incident reports and follow up actions to prevent recurrence.
  8. Assist with and support proper management of SDS documents and PPE hazard assessments, per OSHA regulations.
  9. Conduct internal audits on the facility and support external audits to ensure continual improvement of processes and programs.
  10. Ensure day to day environmental and safety compliance requirements and support facility with safety compliance during shutdown activities.
  11. Communicate any compliance issues to the Plant Manager and assist in developing correction action plans.
  12. Track leading and lagging indicators for health and safety performance.
  13. Assist with new hire onboarding and drug screen testing, support the industrial hygiene programs, and prepare reports.

Grain Operator

POSITION TITLE: Grain Operator CLASSIFICATION: Non Exempt POSITION PURPOSE Responsible for safely and efficiently loading and unloading raw materials (corn and DDG) in and out, as well as loading truck and rail ethanol. Responsible for grain bin cleaning, inventory maintenance, and general grounds upkeep. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES • Learn and operate the computer DCS system for corn receiving, ethanol loading, and by-product loading. • Follow procedures for plant area start-ups and shut-downs. • Follow procedures for all aspects of the company safety program, including Confined space Program and Lock-out Tag-out program. • Maintain daily update of cleaning and PM maintenance checklists and routine duties calendar. • Interface with plant personnel to insure adequate corn, ethanol, and DDG movement and storage capacities are maintained. • Collaborate with maintenance department to facilitate maintenance and repair of Grain and DDG equipment. • Know and understand city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to the facility, and work in a manner to ensure that these regulations are met at all times. • Assist in maintaining the security and general upkeep of the plant and grounds. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES • Constantly review the operation of the plant to monitor production and quality, anticipating and solving problems in a timely manner, and identifying opportunities for improvement. • Participate in projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs. • Maintain adequate records of key production variables such as production volume, yield, plant uptime, utility consumption, etc., on a daily, weekly, and/or monthly basis, as required. • Communicate directly with QA/QC laboratory to ensure effective participation in the implementation of QA policies and procedures. • Sample and test process streams and boiler waters as required by the QA/QC program and procedures. • Understand and implement start-up and shut-down procedures for the safe and efficient operation of the Gas-fired package boiler and dryer system. Control Fire Hazards; know methods of control and emergency reporting in case of fire. Inspect Fire suppression equipment daily. In the area of maintenance, Plant Technicians are responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance, basic repair, and cleaning of all equipment associated with bioprocessing processes. At times, Plant Technicians may be asked to assist Maintenance Technicians in more technical and complex maintenance procedures. Continuous plant operation requires 12-hour shift work. Plant Technicians must be able to adapt to 12-hour workdays and be able to meet call-in requirements as needed. Schedule: Days 7:00 am-7:00 pm & Nights 7:00 pm-7:00 am (Rotation every 6 weeks) DURING A TYPICAL DAY (IF THERE IS ONE)… Use your knowledge to maintain and operate all processes associated with the plant where required. Perform maintenance and basic repairs of plant equipment and document these activities. Operate the DCS (Distributed Control System) for the plant. Safely perform basic electrical troubleshooting. Follow procedures for plant start-up, shut-down, cleaning, and batching. Maintain accurate and timely logs. Collect and test quality control samples, interpret QA/QC results and make adjustments to optimize plant operations, timely and accurately document results and enter results into our data collection system, PI. Assist in removal, installation, rebuild, and performance of preventive and predictive maintenance on all equipment associated with plant processes.
