Mercuria Energy Trading, Inc. is seeking a Commodities Manager to join our team in South Bend, Indiana. The Commodities Manager is responsible for all aspects of commodity management activities, including but not limited to, procurement and risk management programs related to the procurement of raw materials, contracting of energy inputs, and sales and transportation of finished products.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Set strategic direction and risk management policies for the facility for optimal profitability and customer sercice

Establish and manage metrics and KPIs for the commodities organization

Manage and implement improvements to the commercial organizations using internal and external resources

Directly interact with customers and vendors for procurement and sales

Maximize plant profitability by implementing effecive profitability and risk management strategies and tools with respect to grain origination, DDG marketing, ethanol sales and transportation

Manage the grain procurement, coproducts sales and scheduling team

Manage daily positions by using relevant trading tools, and assess market exposure

Assess effectiveness of procurement and hedging strategies and assess the potential impacts of forward prices

Perform relevant market analysis and propose risk mitigation and margin enhancement strategies

Review and reconcile daily positions and daily P&L

Negotiate commodities supply and sales agreements

Attend and represent South Bend Ethanol at industry events

Manage and develop commodities budgets

Ensure timely scheduling and logistics for improved customer service and inventory management

 

REQUIREMENTS

A minimum of ten (10) years of directly related job experience in commodity markets

A minimum of a four (04) year degree in a relevant field of study such as business or agriculture

Experience in leading a team and implementing change

Expertise in understanding commodity-based agricultural and market dynamics

Strong Quantitative skills

Knowledge of commodity trading

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to prioritize work based on business needs and applicable deadlines

Strong negotiation skills

Ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
